We’re looking for a visionary Country Lead to drive strategy, client engagement, and business development in this key market.

About the Role

As the Country Lead, you will be responsible for establishing and growing the firm’s footprint in Japan. This is a rare opportunity to lead the charge in one of the world's most dynamic ESG markets working across sectors to deliver high-impact sustainability solutions to top-tier clients. You will play a critical role in shaping the firm's regional vision, building out the team, and leading key client engagements from strategy through execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the firm’s presence in Japan, representing the business in client, regulatory, and partnership contexts.
• Own client relationships, including those with global brands and Fortune 500 companies.
• Lead multi-disciplinary ESG projects spanning climate risk, sustainability strategy, reporting, and responsible supply chains.
• Work closely with global leadership to align the Japan strategy with broader business goals.
• Build and manage a high-performing local team, while fostering a culture of innovation, integrity, and impact.
• Drive business development, thought leadership, and market visibility in Japan.

What We're Looking For

• 10–15 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or responsible business consulting.
• Proven track record of leading complex client engagements and managing senior stakeholders.
• Experience working in or with global consulting firms or ESG advisory businesses.
• Deep understanding of Japan’s ESG landscape, market dynamics, and regulatory environment.
• Strong leadership skills and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English (required).
